MAKING EACH YEAR BETTER THAN THE LAST // HAPPY NEW YEAR 2018

HAPPY NEW YEARS EVE KIDS!

Can you believe it?! 2017 is coming to an end! A whole year under our belts and another on our heels. It really is true what they say, the older you get the faster the years fly bye.

NASTY GAL SALE // I'M SEEING STARS!

Guys! I know every girl gets excited when they see a sale right?! I mean even if it's only 15% or 20% off, I still can't help but peruse through, just to check ya know?! I get that accomplished feeling when I find a piece and can snag it for less than asking // some major accomplishments going on over here  .. Anyways, if you know what I'm saying than you're welcome for what I am about to tell you...

STYLING THE BAKER BOY HAT // VOLUME I - HELLO EVERYDAY

Brixton Baker Boy Hat

This hat is seriously everywhere // The Baker Boy is taking over and I'm not complaining. This is one of those hats that is subtle enough for someone who doesn't normally go for hats but also packs a punch. All you have to do is put it on and your outfit is immediately elevated. Easy, functional, and a statement. Nothing better than that!

So to show my appreciation for the versatility and ease of the baker boy, I am going to style this hat a few different ways to hopefully get you on the baker boy bandwagon!

First up, an outfit for daily deeds and casual nights out.

MY HOME TURNED INTO A MASSACRE // THE LAS VEGAS SHOOTING

I cringe just writing the word, hearing it in my mind, punching the keys down, physically fighting it...massacre. My wonderful and wild home splashed on the news and etched into every paper, renamed "The Las Vegas Massacre". It leaves me speechless.

We all thought that one day it would be us, one day they would target our city. We were too much of a tourist attraction, always large amounts of people from all around the country congregating here, partying, having a good time. But none of us could have imagined that it would be like this....

BACHELORETTE WEEKEND IN HUNTINGTON, CA // SHE ACED IT!

Hey Everyone! Happy Labor Day! I hope your weekend was full of coffee dates, sun bathing, and lots of good food // I know mine was! I wanted to apologize for the lack of posts // I am a procrastinator and perfectionist with total scatter brain // I have trouble finishing things // but truly I have no excuse. So I promise I am going to try to do better and get some good blog content up at least once a week!

And if I can write a blog post in this state than I should be good to write a blog post when I actually feel like a human. Let me explain...From Thursday at 6:00 AM until Sunday at 3:00 PM I had been celebrating one of my girlfriend's soon to be marriages // Yes I was on a Bachelorette filled weekend trip in Huntington, CA. And since my voice is practically undetectable and my body feels like a cold shell of what it once was, I would say it was a success! But really I came out with four new girlfriends, a tattoo and memories to last a lifetime..I mean isn't that what having a bachelorette is all about!?

So for all you girls looking for ideas and tips on planning your bachelorette or if you just want a few laughs this is how the weekend went down. If you want to see even more of this Bachelorette Weekend in Huntington, I'll be putting up a video on my Youtube channel! I'll post something on my Instagram // @thenexthappening // as well as let you guys know on here so stay tuned!!

A FLOWING SET AND A VALLEY VIEW // ULTIMATE TRAVEL OUTFIT

One of my favorite trends that has popped up in recent years is the "matching set" and one of my favorite brands has dedicated an entire section of their site to this super easy and functional fashion statement; Of course I am talking about Free People.

THE LIGHTS FEST // MESQUITE

You know when you see something in a photo and you think, "I just have to be a part of that!". Well I've been saying this to myself ever since I saw photos of a lantern festival. Yes, those huge white lanterns that you take out into the middle of the desert with thousands of people and everyone sends them up into the sky, creating a real live version of The Starry Night. It just feels like something you should do in your lifetime. So when my future sister-in-law told me that she and my brother were going to one in Mesquite, I jumped on it! Of course I dragged Jordan along with me; Sorry babe. But was it everything I imagined? Was a cold night in the middle of a dirt range lighting up the sky as "Van Gogh" as it looked in the pictures...

I will say this...it was magic!

VALENTINE'S DAY..JUST ANOTHER DAY?

Today is VALENTINE'S DAY!

I had put together a post of places to go to dinner and gift ideas for your significant other. But I was driving to work yesterday and listening to 98.5 KLUC // a local Vegas radio station // and they were talking about whether or not you should go on a first date on Valentine's Day. It was funny because they were at polar opposites in what they thought about it; People were either dead set against it or completely "why not" about the idea. Some believing that by going out on this one universal day of love you put too much pressure on yourself and the possible relationship. I just think it's so interesting that this one day can have such power over people. With all the flowers, chocolates, cards, gifts, dinners and so on, Valentine's Day is one of the heavy-weights of holidays. So before I tell you my stance, I kind of wanted to find out where Valentine's Day even started..I mean does anyone know?

DRESSING FOR THE OCCASION+S

I'm guilty...

Ok I think every girl is.. but of what you ask? The "One-Time Wear". Yes, the wonderful and terrible One-Time Wear // O.T.W. // More often than not this beast is born from the invite of a one-time event. For example, a girlfriends wedding or a business holiday party or your big birthday. You know, events that you want to feel special for and to feel special you want to wear something special. So you go out and buy a lavish, navy blue snakeskin dress with kimono sleeves, high leg slit, and a deep cut v-neck and you slay that party.... then only to shove that dress in the back corner of your closet, never to be seen or heard from again; Because lets be honest, who wants to be seen wearing the same outfit over again to another one-time event. It's a vicious cycle.

KEEP ON SWEATIN'

It's GYM TIME!

You know you promised yourself that once the New Year started you'd be back in that gym busting out the squats. So what better way to keep that promise then to get yourself some new goods and try some new tips to motivate that fitness spirit within! Here I put together some things that keep me ready to head back into the gym for every sweat-session. I hope it gives you that extra boost to keep pumping the iron!

Now, nothing gets me revved up and ready to go more than a killer outfit...so I have a few staples that I can't wait to wear into the gym, and sometimes out // whoop whoop athleisure // With gymwear I try to keep everything black, white, or grey with a few pops of color and patterns here and there; that way everything matches! The last thing you want to do is spend an hour trying to put together a cute gym outfit and eventually giving up all together. Make it easy and quick so you have no excuse to miss class!

2017 IS THE YEAR

baby steps

Happy New Year Everyone! We are already three days in to 2017..CRAZY! And with this new year comes the New Year's Resolutions right?

Ok I feel like every new year people always say, "This year is going to be better than the last! I am going to accomplish all my goals and totally rock! Woohoo year blah blah blah". I don't know why we get this sudden pep in our step come the new year, probably because most people love a beginning. It just feels fresh, the whole new start-new me mentality. Believe me I am with you on this, but how do you actually achieve it? How do you make this year better than the last? How do you set New Year's Resolutions that become resolute? Well I don't have a fool-proof answer and I feel like most people don't, but here is the way I am going to try to achieve this "better year" in 2017; baby steps.
